WHO WE ARE:
Founder of #Prayinpink
"I Am A Woman"
Mrs. Devonne Waters-Davis is a woman who loves God, being a wife and a mother of 3 children. After a successful breast reduction surgery, her breast tissue was sent to a pathologist for testing. The doctor called her to come in for a consultation. With her 15-year-old son and her cousin Antionette Waters-Bailey, DeVonne went to hear what the doctor had to say. Surrounded by doctors, she was given her diagnosis of breast cancer. Later, at home she saw her son praying to God, asking "is my mom going to die?" After researching and discussing her options, DeVonne chose to have a double mastectomy September 2015.
"I Am A Survivor"
Since her diagnosis and mastectomy, she has had six additional surgeries due to other complications. DeVonne is a fighting woman, and attributes her strength to faith in God. She kept telling herself that "this too shall pass". This was only a moment in life, and she was ready to see what her next moments would bring.
"I Am A Testimony"
#Prayinpink was established in 2017 to fill the gap of faith lacking from the information and support DeVonne experienced. She, along with a team of volunteers, began to visit those diagnosed with any form of cancer and chronic illness. #Prayinpink believes people need to know they are cared for and someone understands. On these visits, they deliver a care package and pray with the person and their family members. They share stories, experiences and testimonies with one another and find out other areas of need the family has.. Through her circumstances, DeVonne gained a new understanding of the phrase "this too shall pass".
